British Expeditionary Force
The British Expeditionary Force (BEF) consisted of new British Army Divisions sent to the Western Front in France and Belgium at the outbreak of World War I. The BEF was established by Secretary of State for War Richard Haldane following the Second Boer War in case the United Kingdom ever needed to quickly deploy a force to take part in an overseas war. Here we feature the “King’s Own Scottish Borderers” - one of Scotland’s most famous Lowland regiments.

Countless British and French attacks came to grief in front of the German trenches and machines guns all along the Western Front which stretched from the Swiss border to the English Channel.
A new way forward had to be found… and by 1917 that way had appeared with the appearance a year earlier of the first tanks!
This latest “Great War” release portrays one of these “combined arms” assaults on the German front lines.
